Small improvements over time

We are now going into the second week of the technique workshops. Everybody is different – some need a lot of change / tweaking, some need minor adjustments. Overall though, everyone is looking to improve.

Improving your technique is one of those great ways to get ‘stronger’ without having to actually get stronger. If you put yourself in a better position, you can then exert your force on the bar more directly, and squat/push/pull more weight.

We have given most people a variety of queues to work on. It is important to focus on one at a time and not overwhelm yourself while lifting. In the immortal words of Ron Swanson: “Never half ass two things – whole ass one thing”. Pick something to work on, and actively focus on that until it is almost second nature. Then move on to the next challenge.

This can apply equally to improving your nutrition, sleep patterns and recovery work. Take the little wins, they add up over time.
